BMW has announced 2009 model year updates for the BMW M3 sedan. Coinciding with the recently revealed 3-Series sedan facelift, the M3 will follow suit with matching LED rear lamp clusters plus modifications to the bumper and rear lid.

The interior receives new air vents located in the centre of the cockpit, a newly designed storage area under the armrest on the centre console, pearlescent chrome light switch cluster, new start/stop ignition button and rotary controls for the air conditioning.

Starting in the autumn, all M3 variants will be equipped with crash-active headrests that reduce the risk of cervical injury in the event of a rear end collision. Also, more choices of exterior colours will be available including grey metallic for the M3 sedan and all new Le Mans blue metallic (pictured above) for the whole range.

For all 2009 BMW M3, M5 and M6 from autumn 2008, the new iDrive generation will be available. Standard on all M5 and M6 variants, iDrive control system comes with the M3 in conjunction with an optionally available navigation system.

The system uses a new controller wheel surrounded by preference keys on the centre console surface. With the optional Professional navigation system you get an 8.8-inch control display with a four times higher screen resolution (1280 x 480 pixel) for displaying high resolution graphics and a new menu structure.

Navigation data is stored on a 80 GB hard drive, however, the drive can also be used to store files ripped from a CD, an external MP3 player or a USB stick and transferred to the hard disc, after which the music files are permanently accessible.

Also starting for the 2009 model year, the accessory range will include a new snap-in adaptor for the full integration of the latest smartphones, including Apple iPhone, into the vehicle and an optional compatible USB board will be available.

BMW ‘cancels E92 M3 CSL’

BMW has shelved plans to produce a lighter and sharper CSL version of the E92 M3. CAR’s artist’s impression reveals how the rawest M3 of all was scheduled to look – with an arrival date of summer 2009.

The M3 CSL was supposed to have power uprated to between 450bhp and 470bhp with a corresponding drop in weight, down by 100kg thanks to wider use of flyweight materials. Cup tyres, new engine breathing and a carbonfibre airbox were due to complete the makeover.

But the bean counters at Munich have now canned the project, so they can concentrate on the faster versions of the company’s X-badged crossovers.

The M boss speaks
Ludwig Willisch, the new M Division boss, said: ‘Based on current numbers, there is most likely insufficient demand for the M3 CSL.’

Teraz sedan wygląda wreszcie jak trzeba. Mi się podoba, teraz jest to naprawdę ładne auto. Nie wiem tylko dlaczego zrezygnowali z lakieru Sparkling Graphite.

ja ostatnio jeździełm troche nowym RS4 i M3 E92, M3 w prównaniu do audi jest bardzo skromne , moim zdaniem za mało w niej sportu, audi ma wypasione fotele, kierownice i inne bajery, BMW jak ktos sie nie zna to pomysli ze to zwykłe coupe. Myslalem ze CSL to zrekompensuje a tu lipa.

RS4 to smutek - ESP sie nie odłącza, waży ponad 1785kg vs 1630kg, podsterowne, nie ma coupe, hamulce nie działają i w ogóle nie jeździ. Smutek.
Pomyśl jak Twój dzieciak by się obraził jakbyś go tym chciał do przedszkola zawieźć... Nawet na grzyby tym wstyd jeździć.

A CSL rzeczywiście szkoda...

mi sie rs4 nei podoba choc w rekach amatora jedzie podobnie do nowej M3 i na prostej i po zakretach, a nawet obawiam sie ze na ciasnym torze jak na lotnisku rs4 mogłoby pozamiatac, ostatnio u nas wszystkich objechało S5 a było naprawde pare szybkich aut. mi chodziło tylko o bajery jakie sa w RS4, w m3 jakos tak biednie.
